I am heading for Mexico City in a few weeks and from what i have read it can be quite difficult to get around unless you speak Spanish. How bad is it?? I mean is the level of english really very poor, can you get taxis and navigate in english, order basic meals etc or do you really need to speak spanish??? (getting worried).

I plan to take a 1 week crash course when i get there (i have already started reading etc) but can you survive with just English?

Also, how difficult is it to get around the surrounding states or if you head south into Guatemala/Costa Rica etc etc??

You can absolutely survive in Mexico City using English. I know some Spanish but didn't need to use when I visited Mexico City about five years ago. Have fun! Reply to this
