Double check-in query while traveling from Delhi to Bangkok to Bali

Hi fellow bloggers,
I'm traveling from Delhi to Bali with a stop over at Bangkok. The thing is that i'm reaching Bangkok at 5.10 am by Air India and my connecting flight to Bali is at 6.10 am Air Asia. Now I wanted to ask a couple of things:

- Can I check in for my Bangkok- Bali flight at the New Delhi airport? Even though the flight is in 2 different airlines?
- If I cannot...do you think one hour will be enough to go thru immigration and check in again at the Bangkok airport? Or it will be cutting it too short?

Your suggestions on how this could be encountered are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Jayin

Hello Jayin 😊

Getting through the immigration can take a lot of time at Bangkok airport. I would ask the people in front of me, if I can go before them, in the immigration queue, if I was in your situation.

But, are you sure you need to go through the immigration. Maybe arrival in Bangkok and departure flights go from the same building and maybe the first airline can put your luggage on the second plane.

Hi Jayin,

Sorry to let you know, you've made a wrong choice. Airasia does not have a counter at transfer. So you do have to go through immigration, and take your luggages. And you won't be able to check through at Delhi.

The bad news is if a plane is "landing" on time at 5.10, this means he touch ground at 5.10am, it doesn't mean he is at the gate at 5.10am.

For international flights with air asia, check-ing close 45 minutes before departure. So meaning, at 5.25.

There is simply no way your are making it....my bet is less than 5%...and I know the airport pretty well.

There are only 2 flights a day with Air Asia to Bali from BKK. So the only option is to rebook the next flight. If you do miss your flight with AirAsia, you lose your ticket, and you would have to buy a fully new ticket, last minute with them, could be an expensive choice.

Sorry to be blunt, but I have to be honest.

Thanks guys..your feedback is really appreciated. Let me see what I can do with the situation now. I just wanted to be sure that I won't be able to check in for BKK-Bali flight at the Delhi airport itself.

Thanks anyways...

Peter is absolutely right. You are cutting in too thin. By the way, I am just back from Bali the blog will be up in about 2 weeks). And I was in Delhi (a blog is out there) a couple of months ago. You may find my blogs helpful. Reply to this
