panama airline travel to costa rica

i want to fly from panama city to costa rica, i know the bus is unbelieveably cheaper but 14-17 hours sitting isn't my idea of fun.. does it really cost $319 to fly this route?? any cheaper alternatives.

we're doing a similar route in november, but flying from panama city to bocas del toro ($80) then to David ($30), then getting the bus across the border, which is really cheap although we have heard the bus does take a while...but only a couple of hours, not 17!! Depends where in Costa Roca you want to go...up to San Jose would take ages I guess but if you're wanting to do the West coast of costa rica then we've worked out this is probably the best/cheapest way of doing things!!
