anyone know any orphanage / rural village / community group in slums or with street kids in Angola?

Looking for a group to volunteer with for a month - NOT a western organisation which charges loads of fees, but a place I can go and stay with locals, support local organisations and work with kids who do not normally have access to western volunteers

I'm currently working on education through performing arts programmes with several communities around the world, and am looking for a community in Angola with which to work - for example an orphanage, group for street kids, community in a slum, poor rural village. I'm organising the placements myself and working with locally run organisations or informal groups who do not generally have western volunteers.

If anyone knows of such a community, perhaps you visited it, or know someone in the country, please post here so that I can see your profile and contact you to find out the details!!

thanks

Hello Sarah 😊

You could look in the Classified forum if you want. Some volunteer organisations advertise there.

Have a look on www.ecoteer.com

They usually have that sort of project. Reply to this

Thanks both!

I'm really looking for a community which doesn't normally have access to volunteer projects, so that I can develop the project with local community leaders. I've got a couple of places for 2010 already and the projects are well under way...so looking forward to 2011....
