Hey there. A few of my favorites are:

Clos Pegase - north end of Napa Valley. Lots of art on the property, great wines (both red and whites).
Chimney Rock - on the Silverado Trail side of Napa. Great reds.
Schramsberg - champagne, reservation with tour only finishes with sit-down tasting.
Sterling - fun one as you ride a gondola up the mountain to the winery. The property is really nice, wines are good enough.
von Strasser - picture Bartles and James with a little shack next to their house making wine. These guys are as far from Napa Valley pretensiousness as you can get. The tasting room really is pretty much a shack but they make a great petite sirah. Also on the Silverado Trail side.

Most of the really high-end wines will require a reservation (Opus One, Joseph Phelps, Cakebread, Caymus).

Also, if your spending the night in Napa Valley I would try to stay north of the town of Napa, somewhere like Yountsville, as your not going to miss much by not staying in Napa.

Hope this helps and let me know if I can help with any other questions.

One of my favorites is Kaz Vinyard and Winery in Kenwood. It is the smallest winery, but the owner and his son are very enthusiastic and fun. I have never been to another winery like it, it is very unique with a lot of character, far more so than most of the usual wineries. And the wine is good too! My mom grew up in Napa and I have lots of family out there and they were all impressed. The website is
www.kazwinery.com
Something else to think about is if you feel like spending the money you can have a car take you around and you can just tell the company what you like and they can pick wineries out specifically for you and plus you don't have to worry about driving.
Good luck and have fun. I know you will!
