Does anyone know anything about the flag raising ceremony that goes on early in the morning in Tienenmen Square or the Forbidden City?

That's really all I know about it. It was suggested to me by a friend to go check out, it's a unique experience to behold, but I got a bit less follow up information than expected. When? Where exactly? Is it worth seeing? Reply to this

Of course, it’s worth seeing. Chinese people gather around liking making a pilgrimage to watch the five-star red flag rises with the Sun at the same time and to express their love of country. You’ll be touch by the sacred atmosphere. The ceremony lasts around 3 minutes but is hugely popular, especially on important days such as May 1st, October 1st, the New Year and Chinese New Year. But usually at these days the administration carries out restriction on number of visitors for the sake of order and safe. The exact time is different every day depends on when the Sun rises. Check up the local newspapers like Beijing Evening News in advance and you have to get up very early to arrive at the square before sunrise. Only in this way can you find a good place to see the ceremony clearly because there’re crowds of people waiting every day.
There is flag raising ceremony and flag lowering ceremony every day in all weathers. If you miss the flag raising ceremony, don’t miss the flag lowering ceremony again.
I’ve send you a Chinese website of the timetable through private message for links are forbidden here. Which day do you want to check?

John, Benny-
Thanks so much for the info and the times. It sounds exactly like something I want to experience while in Beijing. I will be leaving this saturday for the week- it's my first time to China and I'm really excited to see the culture and the amazing city that beijing seems to be. I'm sure it'll be a whirlwind- so much to do and see- but it is just a first. Keep an eye on my blog, I'm sure I'll be sharing experiences with everyone. Thanks again.
