Hello everyone !!!! well i am glad i found this blog - long story short - I am doing my master thesis about place marketing - NY is one of the cities I will be writing about - so I would like if any of you could give me some feed back, what you love about it - what you don't. And just a general option about the city - this will be used as part of the research being conducted for the thesis, and your opinions are greatly valued!!

thank you!!!!

Hello Karolian 😊

I lived in New York for 4 months around 20 years ago when I was a student.

I liked that I could get a good paying job there and it was a new place for me to experience.

I didnt like that I felt it was unsafe to walk around there and take the subway at night. I also didnt like that materialism is so important there.

PS One point, would you put the titles of your future threads in the lower case. I think, that will increase your chances of getting a positive response from the members of this site.

I live in the state of New York. When I was growing up I lived in NYC and its suburbs.

I liked being in the center of it all when I lived there. I liked being around all sorts of people. I don't like how expensive it is. I think it's a city that everyone should see once. Reply to this

Hello
Mell and P05 - great to be getting feedback! really appreciate it!

Mell, I am wondering if you have ever been back to NYC? and if so, what made you go back? has it changed since you have last been there?

PO5, I am wondering if you have any friends out of town that visited you while you lived in NYC, and what was their impression of NYC like?

thank you both for your quick responses!

cheers! Karolina Reply to this

No, I havent been back. There are so many destinations to choose from that I didnt get around to going back there yet. But when I do go to the US again I will likely choose another city because NY is the only one I have been in so far. Reply to this

I was there at Christmas time. We had a great time in Manhattan. But the people are rude! They are also not based in reality, but on hype. Can't blame them, there is so much hype all around them that it is difficult to tell the difference. Reply to this

Grew up about 90km (60 miles) from The City, and always thought it was a big scary place as a kid. Then Guliani came in and cleaned up the city and it's not so scary anymore!
I think it's an unique city that everyone has to experience at least once. I would never live there though - too expensive and just too much stress!
I played the role of tour guide for a young Swiss guy recently, and I made sure to take him through the loud mid-town, bustling Times Square, and the quieter, quirkier parts such as SoHo and the lower East Side. He was overwhelmed at the number of people in Grand Central and was shocked at the height of the buildings and the noise. It is certainly a sensory overload in midtown! And he was amazed at the contrast between the different parts of Manhattan.
New Yorkers are not rude...they just have impossible to understand accents. 😊 It's stressful living and working in the city. If you were to ever ask a New Yorker for help, there's a good chance he or she would stop to help or apologize heaps for not having an answer. And in a city of over 8 million people, is it really fair to group them all into one stereotype? 😊
Hope that helps a bit Karolina! Reply to this

hello Karol!

In my opinion the greatest thing about NY is its' special spirit of vitality, activity and never sleeping. I just loved all those great people surrounding me - either they are just slow arround watching tourists or busy citizens knowing where they way goes. The feeling is like you are experiencing something really big and unforgettable. Reply to this
