As we plan our trip to China I was wondering there was any reasonably comfortable and cheap accomodation in Beijing.
Would be prepared to pay approx. $50 US p/n, is this realistic? Reply to this

Of course! There are lots of cheap and comfortable hostels in Beijing.
One of my friends just back from Beijing. She said the one she stayed was nice, staff there all speak English, but you had to share a common bathroom.
Here is the link she booked the hostel. http://www.hostels.com/
Hope it helps! :) Reply to this

I am currently in the Beijing Hepingjie Hotel close to the centre of Beijing. Own room A/C, 300 channel TV, Private ensuite batroom (HUGE by asian standards), Balcony, at a very very reasonable $30 (aus) a night. 2km walk to Forbidden city. tianeman etc,.
Bargain!
No staff speak english and my Manderine is limited to hello (nie hi) thank you (jzaiy jzaiy)
But having fun and seem to get everything I need.

Nowadays, even the star hotels are offering fabulous discounts as result many of those may fit in to your budget. To select the best according to your budget and availability, you may visit my favorite sites like www.hoteltravel.com/china/beijing/hotels.htm, www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g294212-Beijing-Hotels.html, / or www.chinahighlights.com/hotel/beijing-hotels/ etc.
