I'm off to visit Chicago in April and would love some top tips on where to go, what to do, where to eat! All tips welcome.
I'd love for any travelbloggers to tell me where to go, what to do and where to eat in Chicago?
Among my many questions are:
- Where could I get Sichuan Chinese food?
- Where could I get sushi?
- What malls/streets are the best for shopping?
- What top ten sites should I see?
- Where can I go for good Jazz/blues music?
- Is there anything not to be missed?
Any suggestions are welcome and if you have any websites about Chicago that would be great, thanks!
Reply to this We spent a few days there two summer ago. Don't miss the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, The Museum of Science and Industry.
I enjoyed Navy Pier as well. Get some Chicago style pizza while in town.
If I go back again I'd like to do Millennium Park and the Sears Tower.
Depending on when you're going, you might try requesting tickets to the Oprah show. I saw her about 10 years ago and it was a great experience.

I'll second the suggestion to visit the Field Museum and Millennium Park. The Cloud Gate sculpture in particular is very popular intriguing.
We ate at a very good seafood restaurant near the threatre district called
Blue Water Grill. Not really a sushi restaurant, but pretty good seafood for a last minute reservation.
Michigan Ave has good shopping - otherwise known as the "Magnificent Mile." Department stores and boutiques and such.
Must do? Of all the memorable things we did in Chicago, ordering a hot-dog from a vendor outside the Field Museum and then chowing down on it in the backseat of some crazy cab driver as he drove us back to the financial district takes the prize. Gotta get a Chicago-style hot dog - pickle spear, mustard, celery salt, slice of tomato, chopped onion....amazing. Oh! And they have this really cheap sandwich shop on practically every corner called Potbelly's. It's addictive and apparently a Chicago favorite. We even took one on the road with us - I know, a sandwich as a souvenir, but Chicago is great for both world-renowned high class cuisine and excellent cheap eats.
