Wow, I am amazed at all of the responses. This was a long time ago. We ended up going to Yelapa. It is very easy to get to from Puerta Vallerta. It was really great. Very quiet, great food, and not very touristy. They get a few boats that come for an hour or so from the city but that is it. Great fishing, lots of rays along the beach, and a perfect vacation. I just came back from Mexico... if u want non-tourisy place and by the mountains and where you will feel super safe... I suggest to visit the state of Puebla and its city called Chalula...

Another place I enjoyed the most is Guanajuato...

San Miguel is beuatiful as well... but then again... these are cities that is not close to the beach at all... but somewhere you will feel safe... and able to enjoy the culture and the beauty without being one of the tourists Reply to this
