SFO flight connection....should I do it?

question about the flight connections at SFO
15 years ago, January 1st 2009 No: 1 Msg: #58691
I\'m planning on travelling from Dublin to LAX in the Summer and was browsing through some tickets.

I can either make a connection in LHR or SFO, the only problem with SFO is that i have to recollect my baggage for customs.
I have an american passport, so that might make immigration easier.

Which route would you reccommend I take?
Is it easy connecting to another flight in SFO?
I\'ll be 17 at the time of travel, so I\'m kinda nervous at the whole flight connecting thing!

Also. how much layover time should I leave until the SFO - LAX flight?

thanks. Reply to this

Hi,

You should leave 3 hours for your layover....and that's a minimum. Layover in LHR can be pretty nasty also, specillay if you need to transfer terminals....that can add-up a lot of time.

If you feel insecure about the all issue, SFO will be way easier for you to navigate. You arrive at the international terminal and have just a small walk to the different domestic counters depending on which airline you fly.

Best advise, have the all itinery on the same ticket...weather can be dodgy in SFO, so if your international flight is late, they will put you on the next available fly to LAX...they are a lot of them.

Happy New Year,
