Questions about korea
15 years ago, December 23rd 2008 No: 1 Msg: #58195
Hi, i have been watching this forum for a while and decided to join as ive obtained a lot of informations here and found it really useful. I am eager to travel to (North) korea and would like to visit alongside my cousin. However, both of us haven't been to korea before and we wonder if it is advisable to sign up with a packaged tour? i'm looking at http://www.namho.com.sg right at the moment. They have what i want but i would like to hear from you guys first if possible.

Ive a list of questions so please help!

1. Is korea generally safe for 2 girls to be on the streets (like esp at night?)

2. How do you guys adapt to the food? As i would be there for 8D7N

3. Are there informations & signs in english

4. How accessible are the places, would trains go straight to most tourist areas or do i have to change lines alot?

5. Is there anything i need to know about korean customs

Thats about it for now, thanks in advance!

Hi Giselle,

If you speak about North Korea, the ONLY way to visit is through an agency recognized by the north korean authorities.

It will be safe as you will be surrounded all the time by guides who will make sure you see ONLY what they want to show you!

I have a friend who did it few years back on his own, but it was a business trip...and this was a very very rare occasion.

Few details, you won't be able to bring your mobile phone. And ALL your pictures taken will be screened before you live the country.

So simple answer to simple questions:
1. Yes
2. You will just eat what they give you....way way better than what any local will ever eat!
3. Forget about that...it's all propaganda!
4. forget about any independant travel
5....well...this is for North Korea...if you want info on South Korea, it's a complete different story.

Merry Christmas

keep in mind that the visa for North Korea is pretty expensive.
It's about $50 a day so if you plan to be there for 8 days, it's gonna take a chunk out of your budget. Reply to this
