So we are going to the Philippines next week for 5 weeks. We are taking our surf boards and hoping to surf the whole time. We are thinking we will start in Baler as it looks like it can have good waves and they are easily accessable. Where else should we go?

Hey Allan,

Didn't surf in the Philippines while I was there, so I can't recommend from experience. But here are a couple sites you might want to check out:

Surfline.com Philippines

GlobalSurfers.com Philippines

Both have good info on surfing in the Philippines and GlobalSurfers has a decent forum section. Make sure to write some good surfing stories and post them on TravelBlog. I want to hear how your trip goes.

Got back from a great trip surfing in the Philippines. Have to recommend the place. Super good waves and very uncrowded (almost to the point of being a problem - as there was noone to paddle out with). We were there for 5 weeks and went to several different spots.... Baler, La Union, and Illocos Norte. Baler and Illocos Norte were particularily great. There is a severe shortage of boards (or more accurately - people who can afford boards) in the Philippines so if you want to you should take extras (super shitty will do just fine). Also, noone has any resin to fix the boards they have so maybe buy some in Manilla and take it with you. Anyway, besides the lack of information on surfing in the Philippines it is kick ass and waiting. Reply to this

Allan, Thanks for updating. Glad to hear the trip was great. You're making me consider heading back to the Philippines but to surf this time.

Cheers,

I am heading for the Philippines in April and I would really like to go surfing (even though I am still a beginner...). So if anybody will be there in April surfing, please tell me! 😊 smack Reply to this
