Do the days spent in Canada count as part of the 90 day stay in the US without a visum.
We are going to Vancouver BC Canada on the 18th of oktober, we wanted to visit friends in Portland OR and on the 2nd of November we would fly to Honolulu (before this flight we can stay 2 or 3 days in Vancouver). The flight from Honolulu to Christchurch would be on the 26th of January. Can we do this with only a pasport? If Canada doesn't count as US it should be OK? Does anybody have information on this?
Reply to this Twenty-seven countries participate in a visa-waiver program:
Andorra, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brunei, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom
If you carry a valid passport from one of these nations you will not need to apply for a visa. Any time you spend in Canada prior to entering the U.S will not count. Once you enter the U.S you are given 90 days time to visit. If you want to travel back to Canada for short trips during those 90 days you can but you will be readmitted to the U.S for the "balance of the original admission period" which makes me believe that those days
will count. As long as you don't enter the U.S before October 29th you can do it with only a passport.
Hopefully I made sense. Here's the
Official Visa Waiver FAQ for more info.
