Anyone know of a way to travel by boat from Siem Reap to HCMC?

I want to find something that is relatively quick, not a tour. I have tried a few web searches and all I get a 5+ day tours.

Is there local ferry service or anything similar that serves the area?
Would I be better to get a bus to Phnom Penn and then boat from there?

Hi,

From Phnom Penh to HCM: pls choose Blue Cruiser. By bus is cheaper : pls find: MEKONG EXPRESS BUS.

Have fun.

BLUE CRUISER
Office: 213 Ngo Tat To St.,
Ward 22, Binh Thanh Dist., HCMC, Vietnam
PHNOM PENH - CHAU DOC:
:.. Bluecruiser boat picks passengers up at 13:30PM at Phnom Penh International Port (Sisowat Street). Boat goes on Tone Le Sap River to Cambodia harbor mouth. Passengers shall make complete entry procedures to get into Viet Nam (about 30 minutes to an hour for making procedure here, visa must be obtained beforehand). Then boat goes on Hau River to Vinh Xuong border gate (lost as long time for making procedure again). Then continues going to Victoria Chau Doc Hotel Jetty - Viet Nam. Finished the program (at about 18:00PM). It may take longer to reach Chau Doc - Viet Nam in case of bad weather.

Unless you're in a hurry, Chau Doc is a nice place to hang around in. Plenty of cheap and good accommodation.

We did the trip in reverse from hcm to phnom penh. it took two days on the mekong with one night at a floating hotel in chau doc. plus the border crossing is quite interesting- the power was out so they just let us all go through with no security checks. not sure if you could go from siem reap, but there are tons of tour agencies that arrange the tour from phnom penh.
