Ideas on getting from Hong Kong to Laos?

Hi, I'm trying to find a cheap flight from Hong Kong to Luang Prabang... any suggestions? I looked on zuji.com but they didn't have anything inexpensive and the flying time was 24+ hours, which doesn't make any sense given how close these places are. I would prefer a much shorter stop-over. I'd love to hear suggestions. Thanks!

I was thinking about maybe flying through Bangkok, but I think getting two separate flights may be pricier. Reply to this

Amadeus.net suggests a few combinations, e.g. Vietnam Airlines + Lao Airlines which takes five and a half hours via Hanoi (VN791 + QV323) or Catahy Pacific + Bangkok Airlines (CX713 + PG945) via Bangkok at almost seven hours. You'll probably need a travel agent to make the reservation as a single ticket as well as get a good overview on which tickets are the cheapest at the time you wish to go. Reply to this

get flight to bangkok and then visit a TAT office (tourist authority of thailand) and have them book you by train/bus to laos. last year i got a flight with sri lankan airlines from hong kong to bangkok (roundtrip) for 100 USD. it might take an extra day but it will be less expensive than multiple flights.
