I am currently reading One Life by Rebecca Frayn. Part of it is set on Xin Chao. I am completely sold. I want to go to that island. The book is recently published so probably not much has changed on the island since the description in the book.

Reply to this Wow,
Mel, you should come & see by your own eyes, listen by your own ears, feeling by your own heart.... :-)
Vietnamese food is excellent & Vietnamese people are all very friendly.
You should go to Hanoi, Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Ha Long, Sapa, Danang (Hoian & Cuadai)....
KindRegards.

Reply to this Xin Chao isnt in my Lonely Planet book. I cant understand why. It is afterall a place where backpackers go?
I thought there is an island called Xin Chao? It is not listed on Wikepedia either. Maybe the book I am reading got the name wrong?? Or just made it up?
How disappointing. 😞
Reply to this Hey Guys,
It's Just a name, Vietnam is Vietnam, Xin Chao only our Greeting Words. And Xin Chao Island, you've mentioned, just a literary metaphor.
Come and see us, we are not just the island
Reply to this WHY DON'T YOU VISIT PHÚ QUỐC ISLAND. IT IS NORTH OF VIET NAM, AND IT IS THE BIGGEST ISLAND IN VIET NAM
Reply to this YOU should get more information about my country! Vietnam is a country in indochina peninsula. It's not an island, so sunny you are! Should come and see, You are always welcomed by Vietnamese with our hospitality!
Reply to this Yeah, PHU QUOC is the biggest island in Vietnam but it is in the very Sound of VietNam, not the North.
(
viettruongdinh : Please look back at Vietnam Map :-) )

Reply to this Why did you plan to go to Garden Fruit Island? Homestay, Tropica Fruit and Viet Nam Farmer.
Reply to this If you travel to the North of Vietnam, why don't you visit Catba Island in which you have chance to explore the mangrove canals, shrimp farms and national forest.
