Where to go in Asia
18 years ago, December 6th 2005 No: 1 Msg: #3340
Hiya,

I am currently preparing to go on a Asia Trip. As a student of Mandarin I will eventually end up in Beijing but I want to visit a few other places along the way. Can you guys give me some tips on a good route (from Oz) to take. I have been to Thailand a few times but I was thinking about doing the golden triangle etc.

All advice and opinion wanted. Cheers

A girl I met in Laos payed a monk to take her on a trek from Luang Prabang up to one of the hill-tribes. There she stayed in a house with some locals and partied with them for a day before trekking back. It sounded like the most grass-roots experience possible in a place like that!

To stay with the hilltribes it is a good idea to come bearing gifts. Schoolbooks are probably the best thing, but they have been known to accept LaoLao Whiskey, a Dog (don't ask why!) and various other offerings... ask the monk for more details! Reply to this

Hi,
I think that you should visit my beautiful land - Vietnam. Have you been to Vietnam? or Have you heard about it? About Vietnam War, About Halong Bay which is a World Heritage recognised by Unesco, About Sapa, Cuchi Tunnel? ... A lot of beauty spots that I coun't list all of them now.
Let's come and enjoy!

As a mandarin student , China is the best place to visit , but from one place to another , You need a guideline to explore the south and north . Hope this can help .
