Active senior couple, experienced travellers, re-thinking 7 day trip. Original plans 2 days Hong Kong, 3rd day AM flight, 1/2 day in Taipei, days 4-5 Taipei, day 6, AM flight back to 1/2 day in Hong Kong, day 7 (Sunday) Hong Kong. Fly home day 8. We are having doubts about the length of time in Taiwan as opposed to Hong Kong, and need some help from travellers who have knowledge of these cities. What are the things we should not miss, and is the breakup of time correct. The trip will be in the middle of August, and so far we have booked only the flights to Hong Kong and back to US. Please help us with some sort of an itinerary.

Wish you a safe trip in advance.
HKG and Taipei are both great cities to spend 3-7 days respectively, so I list some of the highlights and time spent below. You can decide what you don't want to miss
-HKG highlights: The Peak (view, 2h), Ladies' market (local market 2h), temple street night market (night market, 2h), Lan Kwai Fong (night life and club), Ocean Park (5h), Seafood restaurant and shopping
-Taipei highlights: Taipei 101 (view, 2h), Longshan Temple (temple, 1h), Raohe Night Market (night market, 2h), Jiufen and Gold Museum, (historical landmarks and museum, suburban of 8h), Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial hall (historical building), Tamshui old street (local market and historical building)
