Buenos Noches Mis Amigas y Amigos!
I am going to start this blog with a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has supported my campaign to both get here and do this important work. Whether you supported (or are supporting) in prayer, good vibes or the generosity of your pocket, I want to say I am moved with love and gratitude. I am being a very good steward and feel absolutely inspired to take my work to the next level.
Please forgive the dreadful internet service preventing me from being able to blog sooner. It's been truly dodgy, where nothing would load and sooo slow (my cousing Athena travelling and doing humanitarian work while exploring in Africa understands!!!) But all that aside, tonight, sitting here in a sweet jungle lodge in Tarapoto with the cacophony of jungle sounds all around me and the smell of the night blooming flowers all around me I can say, this is the absolute best environment to add a new blog. Oh I have so much to share but not enough time. I would have blogged more. There have been such extraordinary happenings, synchronistic and precious, challenging and uncomfortable. Perhaps I will write a
Boat Ride 10 mins from Iquitos to Padre Cocha
the boat ride from Iquitos to Padre Cocha on way to see Carlos, Shalah, Laura and Alfonso, my adopted family (their pics got corrupted) book. Anyone who wants more info, just contact me ok? (in two weeks though as I shall have no access to any outside world influences for the next 2 weeks)
I shall just say: "I am soooo bloody happy!" (laying the remnants of the english accent on rather lavishly!) It's been too long since I've been here and I feel like I am home. After spending some busy, full, synchronistic, glorious organising and social days getting caught up with my old friends, bringing cake and celebrating with the precious Peruvian family (who adopted me when I was very ill here two years ago) I am feeling so loved, fueled and ready for tomorrow when my next shamanic dieta work with a plant I love, the Bobinsana, will start. I still can't chew anything after the dental surgery so I have been living on delicious exotic fruit juices and pureed veggies. The food here is so stunning too. I really miss the Patarashka, paiche fish wrapped in banana leaves and grilled infusing herbs, tomatoes, onions, peppers! I had a unusual savory soup called Inchi Capi which is made from pureed peanuts and vegetables, muy rico, a highlight! People here eat

Los Ninos, mi professora de Espanol is sitting to my right, she was amazing! everything, the things in the market will blow your mind, armadillo, deep fried grubs, monkey, alligator, snake, dried salted fish to name a few. Check out the photo with the giant catfish below.
Tonight Robinita, my friend from Colorado, and fellow Shamama in this work, had dinner here in Tarapoto outside in this jungle garden. I had to have my salad and a piece of chicken pureed. It's the most exciting meal I've had since I've been here. The waiter, Edgar found the whole thing highly amusing and was a great sport. How we love interacting with the locals, they get such a kick out of Robinita as she is an outrageously individual gringa and brings joy to everyone, everywhere!
This upcoming Shamanic dieta I speak of is the real deal, total solitary in a tambo, high on a hill in the high jungles of Tarapoto for 8 days during which time I shall not speak to, touch, see any other people other than the one who brings my food to me twice a day. The food is bland, without salt, only eggs, chicken, fish, rice and platanos, reason being, make your body a neutral medium, the only
Who is this little guy?
no he wasn't to eat but so cute to see these animals there energy coming through to be received is the work of the plants who teach a wisdom beyond intelligence. It is a different world and I will share more later. For any of you interested I have some material from my Dieta Mama Blogspot which will give you information about shamanic dietas:
http://dietamama.blogspot.com/2013/01/what-is-shamanic-dieta.html In a nutshell, a shamanic dieta is a medical practice which involves taking the extracts of traditional medicinal plants into your body in order to receive their teachings and their wisdom, enhancing a shamanic practitioners understanding of not only how to heal self and others (in which there is actually no separation in the spirit realm) but to download teachings and be in an entirely open, passive and receptive state to listen. I would like to offer this quote which sums up why I do this. It is from the Secret Life of Plants, a book written in the 70's.
"“In pursuing the study of any of the universal and everlasting laws of nature, whether relating to the life, growth, structure and movement of a giant planet, the tiniest plant or the psychological movements of the human brain, some conditions are necessary before we can become I catch dee fish!
Giant Catfish from the Amazon one of nature’s interpreters or the creator of any valuable work for the world. Preconceived notions, dogmas, and all personal prejudice and bias must be laid aside. Listen patiently, quietly and reverently to the lessons, one by one, which Mother Nature has to teach, shedding light on that which before was a mystery, so that all who will may see or know. She conveys her truths only to those who are passive and receptive.” Luther Burbank"
In traditional Peruvian shamanic tradition, this practice is the practice of medicine with the shaman becoming so full of understanding, intuition and wisdom that he/she is able to heal, treat all manner of malaise, body, mind, spirit.
So here I am, on this path and deeply, truly grateful that this life (and many of you this time) affords me this learning and healing experience and allows me to take what I learn into the world to bring my own contribution to the luminosity of health and beingness. It's powerful stuff, profound and it affects everything, one realised, healed person at a time. My heart just keeps expanding in love, understanding, tolerance, patience and truth.
Before I came to Tarapoto today, I
Water Goddess in the Tarapoto Falls
Robinita in the waterfall in Tarapoto, her taxi driver took this of her have to share that I visited the Belen Market in Iquitos Peru to purchase medicinal extracts to bring home to our practice in the US. This market is one of the wildest places on earth, crammed with people selling every and anything You will see a couple of photos of the market. At certain times of the year when the river is high (not now) the whole of Belen is often underwater and people travel through it by boat. It's packed with people most of the time but I caught it super early on Sunday morning so it wasn't quite so mad.
Well I must go to bed now as I have to be up in a few short hours. I will be singing in the jungle, singing songs of medicine which is how the plants express themselves. I shall be sending it to you, to our loved ones, our treasure-Mother Earth, Madre Tierra, Pachamama here in Peru.
so wish me well all, see you in a couple of weeks when I return and hopefully have alot more pics as Robin has a camera rather than just using my phone.
Peace, love and joy to you all,
Kellita (Jungle Mama for now) xxoxoxoxo
