Lima - Miraflores
Hello to you all, this is the first thing I´ve ever published for general release so please excuse me if it doesn´t flow too well.
The plane journey itself was quite an experience, first 2 hours to Madrid which was bareable, however the 12 hour flight from there to Lima was not so good. I´m not sure if any of you have ever flown with Iberia, but my advice to you would be not to bother, the stewardesses greated us for takeoff and then disappeared for the next 12 hours, you know that button you press to get their attention, well they just ignored it. We were just glad to get there safely in the end, and our bags turned up with us, and we weren´t searched at the airport.
(By the way if any of you are planning on flying anywhere soon, dont bother taking any liquids in your hand luggage, they get confiscated if they´re over 100ml, and they then sell you water for 3 times the price in the departure lounge).
We were picked up from the airport by Roberto from our hostel, driving a minbus. Lima traffic is
Building
Probably a church or something an experience in itself, seatbelts, indicators and brakes appear to be optional extras. Cars jostle for position by using there horns to let others know when they´re coming and it´s a case of biggest cars win. We were bother relieved when we arrived at the hostel.
The hostel itself was nice, and we met plenty of people quickly including Spanish, Israelis, New Zealanders, Aussies, South Africans and even northerners. Sampled some of Perus local beverages at rock bottom prices, been drinking cocktails with raw eggs whites in them, which are suprisingly morrish.
Also I got called a gringo by a local, I actually felt a little bit like Clint Eastwood, which made me happy.
Went to a local market, saw lots of meat just lying around in the sun, Cat was particulalrly discgusted by the buckets of chicken feet that were lying around for sale. Touch wood, but neither of us have had any problems with the local food yet, I´m using an ancient technique which involves mixing most of my meals with alcoholic beverages, seems to do the trick.
We are both well, and loving it. Off to the desert oasis of Huacachina next, to

Nice but quite smoggy expereince some extreme sports...
