Edit Blog Post
We have been in South America for two weeks now, and I'm seriously running late on blogging. There are two very simple reasons for this, first we are having the time of our life...and uploading pictures may not be the priority...second, we are in places which have very slow, or simply not connectivity, and being on the road does not stop me to work online, therefore putting work before blogging, sorry for this.
So, we went out of Lima for three days. the full three days with Christophe, and part of it with Pello, Guille, Caroline and some more peruvian friends. Belive it or not, I may have been to Peru more than twelve times, I never saw the Nazca lines...so job done. After a very short night...way too much pisco for me...we were on for the 4am bus to Nazca. There is not much to see in Nazca, this may simply be due to too many earthquakes over the years. But there are the lines. Explanations about them, well, none really....so you just enjoy a very nice 45 minutes ride...keep in mind...on your left the hummingbird...than the plane turn...and hummingbird on your right...small plane...short night...pisco yesterday...how yes...was a funny
ride! I did not really know what to expect...the sites are impressive, lots of them. My pictures are to my opnion really average, but it was great to do it...even better that Christophe was with Ma'ri and I. For info, Lima-Nazca is 7 hours by bus...Christophe did well by getting us proper sleeping seats...to arrive in Nazca at 11am.
Next, Ica. This means two hours more on a bus back in the direction of Lima. Ica...love the place, been there many times, and the good news, it was not that affected by the 2007 earthquake. But the best news...Christophe has now a very serious knowledge of the place, thanks to our friend Pello. Imagine, these guys do produce their own Pisco...well, they are not really the producers, but they do help the week-end when the pisco is actually made...this is early march...and on my wishlist to do...one day...
We first had lunch at Tres Generatiosn, one of the current best producers of pisco...so lunch, 4pm...and just before a little pisco testing...and stocking of our stock for back home in Thailand. The lunch was one of the best diversity of Criollio cuisine, the local cuisine, keep in mind that
we are in Ica further away from the sea, so not the place for ceviches here. Lunch done, and on to David, our pisco producer...for some get-together with our friends.
We would spend the night at the Carmenelo Inn, the place where Christophe and Caroline will soon say yes...and on to Huacachina, an oasis few km from Ica...for another night of fun and dancing...and more!
Sunday morning do not exist in Peru...well, they do, from midnight to sunrise (or just before) when it is time to reach your bed. Wake up on time for a first pisco sour and the final of the World Cup...than on for some sand dunes....buggy time...and a lot more fun. You just need to see the pics to see we had fun. Sunday night, Pello, Guille and Caroline made their way back to Lima. We did go first to Pisco. I've seen the city few times between 2000 and 2006...well, earthquake did hit in 2007, and sadly, the city hasn't made it back on his feet, very sad story. Than we took a taxi to Paracas.
Monday morning, Paracas, Islas Ballestas...also known as the Galapagos of the poor. My third visit her,
tenth for Christophe, and first for Ma'ri...and as Christophe and I put it, each time is a great time. The season, the earthquake and some pollution means less sea lions, but they are still there in numbers...and the birsd in thousand of thousand. We will need to show this place one day to Leslie!
After this...and yes we are still alive, back to Lima for a late lunch.
This is it for our little few days in Peru...wish it was more...but we had an amazing time, and already know when we are back...not in 2010 or 2011 as our schedule is already full...but 2012...we will be back for sure!
I know I'm late of few days...the last few days were amazing...but to see those entries on the blog, you will need to be patient...tomorrow...as the last few days, we are up at 5am! Pictures coming soon!
You only live once, better be good! For sure, this month of July we are practising my motto to the max!
With love from a wonderful continent!
