On Saturday morning we arrived to a town called Huaraz, after an 8 hours night bus ride. It was a 2 floor bus with TV and Internet Service.
Huaraz is a very high and cold town. It has high mountains with snow.
We dressed up in the morning after arrival and went to a mountain that's cold Pastoruri. Its a mountain of 5,200 meters!
On the way to the mountain we bought special leaves that are called “coca” that helps you to not get a headache when you chew them, but their taste is gross and they didn't help us.
But my mom, two brothers and I didn't do this trek only my dad did it because we were all sick because we weren't get used to the height.
So we stayed in the minibus two hours and waited for my dad.
After that day, we decided to stay in the hostel two days to rest and get used to the height.
On Tuesday we went on a trek for 4 days. The trek was in Santa Cruz. We rented one horse for us. The first day of the trek was very hard, it was a steep
hill and the horse didn't come yet. The donkeys were carrying the bags and the food for all the people in the group. We walked 6 hours and that's 10 kilometers. The second day was a bit easier and we had a horse. We took turns on the horse once two kids were on the horse and one walked and we changed every hour. That day we walked 6 hours but made 15 kilometers. We had a cook each day. Each night when we arrived to the camp, there was the cook's tent. We really liked to watch how he cooks dinner and in the morning breakfast and lunch. The food was very good. Almost everyday a lagoon. Lagoons were amazing, beautiful and one of them was full of plants. Each night we camped in another place and we slept in tents. That was the fun part of the trek. But, on the last night were we camped there were tons of bugs and mosquitoes.
There were 2 guides. One was a girl named Lucia and one was a boy named Abel. They were very very nice, they even sometimes carried Shachar my little brother on their shoulders. Sometimes
in the trip it was very cold, that we had to wear gloves and hats. And sometimes it was very hot and we only wore short t-shirt and cap.
My favorite part was riding on the horse, but the enoying part was that my little brother Shachar almost didn't let us ride the horse it was like his private horse, he even sad he is the king and all in the world is his. Once the horse jumped very high so I hurt my back very badly. Once also my 2 brothers fell from the horse and they were really hurt. Now my back still hurts . At the end we gave to everybody, the cook, the guides, and the donkey-man a tip. In total we walked about 70 kilometers.
It was a fabulous trek and a bit hard I hope we do another trek like this!!!!!
