July 21st 2007 got back to Huarez last night from a four day trek to santa cruz which is in the cordillera blanca mountain range. had some really cold weather, complete with hail two afternoons in row, but it was fortunate that we had arrived to camp when the storm passed over, so we sat it out for about forty five minutes in out tents. a diverse group of people in out group including two Israelis, one hollandase, one frances, four norwegians, one taiwanese and me representing estados unidos. lucky for me, of all the languages represented, most often english was the language used in conversations.
tomorrow i´m doing a three day trek to climb nevado pisco norte, which is about 5700 meters. like cotopaxi it promises to be really cold, really windy and include a summit attempt leaving at one or two a.m. its just me and a guide so even though its sort of expensive, it should be at a pace most compatible with my ability.
