Hola amigos, well my days in Bogota are coming to an end. Im very excited to move on with my adventure without the comfort of having so many people who speak english to help me along it should make for some interesting stories i reckon!
Anyway ,where i last left you which i think was friday. yes? anyway lets just say friday, i dont think it really matters haha. Anyway we had a good sleep in as per usual before heading to town to see some of the museums id been reading about . The first was the Museo de orro. Inside is a vast collection of prehispanic gold medallions breastplates jewelry . there isnt a whole lot of this stuff left in colombia after the spanish arrived and decided to take it all back to europe so it was a real treat to seee so many famous peices i had only ever seen on tv. Oh and all of the writing was in english and spanish which gave oscar a break from being my translator for a few hours. we jumped to another one accross the street which was not as interesting but good all the same. We where both starting to fade and i think I had a bit of a history overload so we got some food and stopped into a cute wine bar with a few of his mates for a couple of hours before heading home to get an early night. Oscars sister had offered to take us on a day trip about 3 hours out of town to a beautiful historic litle village called Villa de leyva. I was pretty excited to go as everybody had been raving about it and i was told i wouldnt be disapointed.
I did not sleep very well on the friday night so waking up at 5 was not easy. Oscars sister is nice and her english is about as good as my spanish so we sat there in the car laughing and trying not to get lost in translation. Villa de leyva was just as beautiful as it looked in the photos. cobbled stone streets with these beautiful old buildings all painted white the place was buzzing with happy people no class system here everybody seemed like they where healthy and happy and very safe. VILLA is very popular with the hippy crowd there where many buskers and rainbow pants being sold from every little gift shop. the main plaza was huge bigger than plaza de bolivar in bogota. the village is centred in a bit of a valley it is surrounded by mountains and has a very dry landscape much like a desert from a western. i wish i could have spent a few days just hanging out there, it was bad timing for us because one of oscars mates an american colombian. his father owns 3 hotels and about 4 properties in the town unfortunately for us they where away on vacation. we spent hours walking around and exploring every little street. they had a few little museums. they where actully homes where the original founder of the twon lived and they had kept everything bar the kitchen sink exactly the same as the day they died. we had some breaky at a little cafe i asked for a fruit salad little did i know that when you get a fruit salad in colombia it comes with a mountain of cheese on top! they love their cheese here. it tasted better than it sounds and realy filled me up it was massive. Next we went on a trail ride on horse back to the natural springs they where not too impressive to me oscar thought they where great but i was more blown away by the landscape . huge rolling mountains surrounding a massive open area of clay and grass. before we head back to twn for some lunch we went for a drive to another spot where oscars friends had some property just for a sticky beak . it was rough terrain and down hill when we finally got to the bottom and parked it started to storm so we decided to head back. sounds easy but no. the soad was clay and all the water from the top of the hill was running down the road like it was a gutter! masses of water and oscars sisters car was struggling its only a little 4 cylinder hatch back. there where two other cars in the same predicament and we all got bogged. we jumped out to push but poala is a terrible driver and was unable to keep the wheel straight i could leave oscar to push with her so we stopped and waited for abit for the rain to stop. i

little wine bar with hammocks and lounges
decided it would be better if we worked with the other pople first who wher we went to one of the ore upmarket places and had an amazing meal with entrees and beers as well as this local drink its like a tea with sugar cinimman and aguarriedente hot sweet and alcoholic mmmmmmmmm! all up it was about 15 bucks each for something you would pay for back home for 40-50 bucks. After that we called it a day and started the windy journey back to Bogota.
Sat night was going to be last night to party and party we did. We piled into the car and went back to my favourite place ANDES!!! for a sunday it was rocking we got tequilla and fruit and went for it next thing ya know we are at the servo at 4 am ordering empanadas wow what a night i have never danced so much i reckon im getting pretty good at the whole salsa thing too if i do say so my self. i didnt even get and funny looks or people pointing and laughing.
so now I have the last day of bogota ahead of me ill be
