Signs like these seem to dot the coastline north to Vina del Mar! I didn't realize this area was prone to tsunamis!

Along the way, I observed heaps of sea birds and a whole bunch of sea lions just hanging around. They must have to wait for high tide to get on or off!!!

I love pelicans. Here's a limerick by Edward Lear from my childhood. Do you remember it? I think of it every time I see one. Brings a smile to my dial wherever I am. A wonderful bird is the Pelican. His beak can hold more than his belly can. He can hold in his beak Enough food for a week! But I'll be darned if I know how the hellican? Source: The Pelican by Edward Lear - Limericks

I watched an adolescent sea lion pup trying his best to "get aboard" for 10-15 minutes. He was so persistent! However, he had to give up in the end. A case of "bad timing", me thinks!!

Bought by a wealthy German businessman in the early 1900s, he had it rebuilt over the next few years. Delusions of grandeur, perhaps! Great views of the Pacific on a good day, I imagine.

Wandering around the streets of Vina del Mar, I came across this little corner shop/bottle shop. The proprietor was completely puzzled when I pointed out the connection?? See next pic...

The third and favourite of Neruda's residences where he spent much of his later life. He named the area himself after the black rocks he saw off shore.

As with his other residences, this house grew organically as time went on. An intriguing place to explore. Everything was built to give the illusion of being on a ship eg the low ceilings, narrow rooms
