weather wasnt looking too good when we awake so after a hearty breakfast(by that i mean it is so shit it must be doing my jam tart in) and decided to have a long drive north to a place called zapallar, most of the drive we had done before but after about an hour of driving through poor areas the countryside seem to liven up and when we startes to pass private estates you knew you were somewhere a lot more upmarket.
Zapallar itself is a fantastic bay hemmed in by high hills with huge gaffs lining the hillside and everyone seems to have a few bob, the houses overlooking the beach were all german/swiss chalet types place built in 1945 and as you could pay for lunch in the restaurants with fillings i started to wonder who lived here.
in fact we sat down for lunch but i hadnt bought that much money with us as i wasnt expecting to find this.as they didnt take cards we had a coffee and left, also the two restaurnts on the beach were all reserved for lunch.
we had an hour round the pool and went out to a gaucho restaurant where we

had a huge steak each and red wine , and left feeling all done ... it was one of the best steaks we had both had which worries me as argentina looms next and i would imagine we will be having them fior breakfast
