Well we decided that we wanted to head out to what was described as the sleepy beach towns of the coast. This definately wasn´t the case, Valpariso was a bussling town. That being said Valparaiso was a very neat looking city. The buildings are very colourful and from the bottom of the hills they are built on they appear to be stacked on top of each other.
We did a couple of walking tours which included a lot of walking considering the entire town seems to go up and down. The town seemed to be full of markets and we are unsure if that is a usual thing or if the markets are just there for Christmas. We were sure they were as busy as they were because of Christmas though. The one great thing about the markets is they always have street meat.
During our walking tours we got to take in some spectacular views and we also got to see the murals on the building walls done by local artists. Some of these were extroidinary while others i´m confident I could do. We also attempted to visit a lot of churches but it seemed we could never
get into them as they were always closed. From the outside they looked spectacular! The only one I got into I accidentally walked into a funeral. I was hesitant to try after that.
We headed up to Vina Del Mar and the plan was so we could take in the beach. However our luck had us there on the only rainy day. We still laid on the beach then took in the rest of town. We decided as our last full day in Chile that we needed to take in a Completo. We´ve seen these everywhere. They look like a fully loaded hotdog that is twice as long as normal. The toppings include mayo gaucamole sawercraut cheese tomato and you can add more. Our tastebuds said yes yes while our stomachs said no no!
We also had some time to shop at local markets and experience the real price of wine. You can get a decent big bottle for just over $3.
My Spanish is gettting better which is mandatory as I have by far the best spanish out of the four of us. For the most part we have been getting by ok but there has
been a couple of times we have just had to guess what they are saying.
We have now arrived in Mendoza Argentina. We are excited to get some real activities in. We start today as we are going on a bike wine tour. We will be biking to 12 different locations. Most of which are wineries but there is a chocolate and a beer one in there too. Down here they celebrate Christmas tonight so we are excited to party christmas style as well! I´ll try to post more frequently.
From the 4 of us in Argentina Merry Christmas, or should I say Feliz Navidad!
PS I added a couple of pictures that should have gone with the last blog. These compluters are hard to work with because they are so slow!
