Sao Paulo, from my office
Got to love it! The hotel is in the left bottom qorner, behind the building with the helipad. Hello everybody!
Two weeks ago we arrived in Sao Paulo. It's been really nice and quite exciting to be here. We live in the financial district, next to the World Trade Center (yes, Brazilians like to imitate the US wherever possible!), where my work is. Sometimes I am in the office, and sometimes I am going between construction sites in- or around Sao Paulo, meaning that I get to see a lot of the state AND hang out in a office with kick-ass view! Going to the construction sites has been a special experience. It is amazing how much security they have around these companies. All kinds of hi-tech stuff, fences, gates, and of course a lot of armed guards who take their work very seriously. Getting through this is by far more difficult than getting into the country, a really heavy beauricratic process. Of course there is a reason for all this, in this country unguarded valuables are considered to be up for grabs. Last week, in a company close to one of the sites where I sometimes go, a group of eight men armed with machine guns attacked, and stole 3,5 tonnes of copper wire! The copper
was later recovered and four of the men arrested. After reading that, I am just glad for all the Rambo-guys at the places where I am working.
The hotel is quite cool, 20 floors and we live on the 8th floor, and on the 20th there is a gym and a really cosy swimming pool, plus big balcony's. Every other house in this neighborhood has a helipad on the roof, and the helicopter traffic is quite heavy, it is the preferred way of travel for the multi-millionaires(maybe some day me...). From the hotel we can see a glimpse of the new landmark in Sao Paulo, Morumbi Bridge, and from the top we have a nice view over the city.
We have ventured a little out of our neighborhood when I have not been working, we visited Ibirapuera park on the first day here, and have also gone to the city center to look at what is there. We have also gone to see KungFu Panda (dubbed), which was a big hit. Today we went to the zoo, which is far avay from where we live, it was very nice despite being a bit overcrowded, I added
Our luggage
Three big suitcases, two big bakcpacks, two small backpacks plus my cpu... some pictures. No crazy adrenalin-pumping adventures though, but this is the thing when you are in such a nice hotel; with the pool and everything we have been really lazy and just preferred to hang out here.
The weather here is really nice. 22-28 degrees every day, and not a drop of rain since we came here. Due to the elevation and the fact that it is winter, it drops down to 8-12 degrees during the night. But, hey it is a lot better than any winter (or summer) in northen Europe!
Bye

From the hotel
Bless
