Greetings Mortals,
So here I am in famous Floripa. Well that is the nickname anyway. From what I have been told I should have been here in January. The place is really beautiful. Just went swimming in a lagoon yesterday. It is always sunny here. Today we might rent a car and go check out other beaches.
The ladies are absolutely stunning and my neck muscles are getting really strong from all that turning from side to side. One problem however, I am not sure if I ever met least friendly people or snobby/narrow minded.com. Once they find out you do not speak portugese it is over before it even began. Even in the nighclubs...it is beginning to remind me of Calgary except the eye candy is way and the Russ means WAYYYY better here.
I am still travelling with the original crew from Antarctica. One Israeli guy and one Aussie. The food in this joint is ok, better than it was in Ushuaia. Another thing I do not understand in this town is how people live here. They build restaurants and shops but they are always closed. Why the hell would you go through the trouble of

Barra De Lagoa - where most of the backpackers hangout all that if it is never open. Why do the bus drivers drive like they are racing in Formula 1? The bus driver would take less time driving a bus to the center of town than a taxi would. I was sliding from one seat to the next and sideways like a garbage bag in the wind.
The pizza tastes good in here. Other than that, I am still looking around and I haven´t been taking too many pictures so far. If I go to the beach then it is about 5-10 minutes from here and I am scared that my camera might get stolen or something along those lines. Even though people in this region are evidently more rich than their counterparts in the north. Also almost nobody speaks any english. Now since I am a lazy ass, I do not really bother to learn portugese and just use my spanish and so far it has been working out quite well. I am only here until the end of the month and then it is back to spanish so why bother. I will try to please you all by taking some lovely photos and adding them later. That

Ok...it is about 6 days later and I am changing my mind about this place. The people are not bad, it is just that I went to the wrong places. We went to a nice beach yesterday and i got burned/tanned if you will. We also rented a car to go to Curitiba, about 325km north of Floripa. There is supposed to be the most scenic train ride in Brazil. When we got there, we found out that a cargo train has ruined the tracks so it was out of order. Oh well, what can you do. We spent the night wondering around in a dodgy neighbourhood and the next day people tell us that lots of muggings and so forth happen there. Who would have thought. But nothing happened to us. We went to a local mall and ate some food from the food court which really did not have any taste whatsoever so I felt a little ripped off for $7. So we went back the next day.

Sorry to hear about your neck muscles. I hope that is from as you say, looking...and not, well you know. Seriously though, lets see some "nice" pictures...it would be a shame not to share with us...
