everywhere you look in Rio he seems to be there
This three week trip to Brazil seemed like a better idea last winter, before we confronted the practical reality of such a diverse country, and tried to learn Portugese. We would start in Rio with the family of our AFS exchange student, who we had never met. We would share a wilderness experience, canoeing in either the Amazon or Pantanal areas. But after a cancelled international flight and two unexpected overnights in suburban Virginia and Sao Paulo, we were face to face with overwhelmingly friendly strangers who suggested we join them for a typical, though unseasonably cool and drizzly, Sunday afternoon at various Rio parks. It was wonderful.
