The Department of State recommends that U.S. citizens defer non-essential travel to Bolivia . This Public Announcement expires on January 11, 2008.
Political and social tensions have escalated in Bolivia due to the highly polarized nature of Bolivia ’s Constituent Assembly process. The Department recommends that U.S. citizens defer non-essential travel to Bolivia at this time. Yikes. I had a feelng this would happen. I just got this email from the government... Im thinkng about possibly leavng for a lttle while. Perhaps to Argentina? Im going to La Paz tomorrow cuz im gong to lake titikaka but maybe I wll catch a flight to Beunos Aires from there. Im gong to call the US emmbassy and ask them what I should do. this sucks. everythng in sucre has been so calm.. peaceful rallies have been occuring but nothng crazy. but the fact that they can just arise out of nowhere is no good. I luckily have vacaton from tomorrow tll January 7th. what do u think I should do?
I dont even know where to Begin with this update. well i do have to say that the i on ths keyboard really doesnt work and i have to ht it really hard so if I´s are absent.. thats why! haha.
Ill start wth the bad and end wth the good. a few days ago i got a really bad sunburn on my chest and i ended up gettng tons of little blsters. luckily, one of the aunts i live wth is a dermatologist so she got me some good creme for it. they look fne now but i got all nervous cuz i never once in my lfe ever blstered before. so, if u ever living in a place with high altitude.. dont u dare leave ur house wthout wearng sunscreen! i sure learnt my lesson. never again!!
Also, psh. what im about to write doesnt even come close to my sunblisters. the other night i woke up wth travelers diariah. it was brutal. This morning i went to the lab to get tested for simonella and other stuff just ever case. cuz i have been SO sick. no fever or stomach aches... just constant diariah. i know noone wants to hear about this but i really dont care. its reality and even tho its nasty... it just goes along wth traveling especally to poor countries. however, i feel 100% better. i thought i was freaking dyng yesterday. I never felt like that in my entre life. my famly took great care of me though. but i really missed home yesterday. there is nothing worse than being extremely ill away from home. but thank freakin god i feel better. i get my lab results back at 300 today so we will see if i really am okay. keep ur freakin fingers crossed.
but ANYWAYS!!!! besides all that.. ive been havng a BLAST in sucre. I really do love it here. Sucre is perfect for me... not too big but not too small.. tons of cafes and bars... and perfect locaton for day trips! Last weekend I visited dinosoar footprints and the Tarabucu market about an hour away from Sucre. Tarabucu was much dfferent than Sucre. for one, its poor. very poor. It made me realze how rich Sucre is. Tarabucu still practices its traditional bolivian customs and sells traditonal clothing and textiles. The people hate havng their pictures taken. Not sure why.. probably a superstitious thing. Ill have to ask around why.
Oh! the other night.. I experienced the most insane lightning and thunder storm. I am usually not one to get scared of lightning but I wll admit.. i was scared shitless. I got out of my bed to get my water bottle and as i was near the window.. the LOUDEST AND BRIGHTEST lightng and thunder happened. my entre bedroom lit up and I freakin swandove straight into my bed. except.. i sort of only made it halfway onto my bed and whacked my knee SO hard on the wood on my bedstand. it was pretty excitng though.. i love gettng scared!!
well im gong to go call the embassy and talk to the school and get their opinion on this. gah.
miss u all so much!
