When driving along the Valles Calchaquies you find yourself in a totally different landscape each half an hour. Through green hills and muddy rivers where condors are circling above your head you make your way up the road along red rocks with cactuses all over until you reach the snow covered mountain tops of the Andes. And finally you are on the mountain plateau - a vast and flat landscape where the streets have no name. While passing by a weird mix of cactuses in front of snowy mountains you reach the valley of the Cachi river.

Stroll around the little cozy streets of Cachi and you will note that time passes by slowlier.

Make sure that you don’t lose the way after leaving Cachi - the danger of leading your car over rocky staircases is just too big!

Pass by bizarre rock formations that look like a red version of the Perito Moreno glacer. Only then you will make your way to Cafayate. Eventually.
