lamentablemente ... perdimos.lamentablemente ... perdimos.lamentablemente ... perdimos.

Unfortunately, after a real strong effort and fabulous game, Argentina was defeated by Germany in round two of the World Cup, here is Mery, stunned and heart broken after the shoot out.
July 9th Italy and France will battle in the finals at 21:00hrs for the World Cup.

This phrase is just not nearly exciting without the word Argentina in it. What a pity. It would have been such a fabulous experience for Argentina to win the world cup on July 9th, the day Argentina's independence day, and a fantastic experience for us living in this country that is literally 'Loco por el Futbol' (Crazy about Soccer). Well, the players were persistant and marvelous, the best in the world, but the referee was paid millions of Euros to let Germany win. Or at least that is what some people say! Jaja. Regardless, it was an exciting game, and Lindsay (although she had bet against Argentina winning with Ivan before the game) had a little cry after the game. We watched it with our Bariloche girls and Guada's cat. We drank mate, cheered and encouraged the players and ate empanadas, we sat in silence for about 10 full minutes after the game, the only noises were Mery's "No, no puede ser, no puede ser" and Lindsay's tears falling. What a pity. Well, seeing that we had returned home at 8:00 in the

even the animals were cheering for argentina. nice jersey, no?
morning the day of the game, we went directly home after it and slept the afternoon away. We had gone out to a Hip-Hop (Argentine style) club after a going away dinner for a few USA friends and you can tell by the pictures Lindsay and I were not doing 100% the next day! Anyway, enough about that night painting the town red, our final exams, bike rides in Buenos Aires and jazz shows. We will have another blog up one of these days soon!

VAMOS FRANCIA!

sports
is just that, A SPORT. Seems people forget the "hunt" is what is important. It shouldn't be because their sense of nationalism has been bruised because of a loss but rather that it is a sport which should be entertaining, enjoyed, whatever but NOT frustrating. Great games by the way. I even enjoyed the head butt france gave italy................... hugs, dad
