This place is incredible - and I´ve only scratched the surface.

Two days of wandering around Microcentro, Puetro Madero and Recoleta (the huge, impressive grey granite Congreso; the pink spanish Casa Rosada where Madonna sang to the masses (or was that Eva Peron?); the Obelisco in the middle of 16 lanes of manic traffic on Avenida de 9 Julio) can only be the start. There´s so much more of this city to explore I know I will have to come back...

However, for the moment most Portenos are spending their summer holidays on the beaches at Punta del Este, Uruguay and it just NOT the done thing to stay in the city. So, having met up with Jody, we queued hours for a ferry ticket to Montevideo and the sea (well the Rio de la Plata, but you can´t see the other side!).

A final few hours left time for a run along the promenade: lots of people jogging, playing football, and eating icecream or superpanchos (hotdogs); and two hot and very thirsty englishmen.
