It lived up to every expectation - bizarre and like being in the boat going down the chocolate river in the original Gene Wilder version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The 10pm Massage Caller and a visit to the Four Women September 28th 2006 Our hotel in Shanker's was the plushest accommodation yet. The fact that it was a hotel rather than a hostel was a start. The fact that it had a toilet which flushed and that there was no rising damp left us in near ecstacy. Infact it was probably one of the best rooms I've stayed in as far as bog standard hotel rooms go. No character but plenty comfy and clean.

Having made it to New Zealand without taking a single flight, we reached the conclusion that neither our finances nor our sea legs could stomach another container ship journey so we've cheated and taken a flight from New Zealand to Bangkok. From Bangkok we hope to stick with the overland theme and take a route home through Southern Asia: China, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey...
