In the village of Colchani, on the edge of the Salt Lake. Here the salt is processed and bagged by the villagers with very little technology.

We crossed the overland border from Argentina into Bolivia on 27th May 2005. I always find land border crossings stressful as there are always 100's of people milling around, a good number of them waiting to scam you in some way before you've managed to work out the correct exchange rate! Gerry and Denise Aitken
We are a young couple (well, in our 40's) from London. Gerry is a Team Manager in Social Services, working with children in care. Denise is deputy manager of a Children's Centre. From 1st October 2004 we started travelling around the world for a year, first stop India, then SE Asia and on into Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
