Below the burning desert of the Turpan Depression runs the precious water.

The underground irrigation system brings fresh water from the snow covered mountains many hundreds of miles away. This underground system has been used since the development of the Turpan Depression over a thousand years ago. The water is clear, sweet, and drinkable.
