Die sechsstündige Busfahrt von Semporna nach Sandakan (40 RM) ist landschaftlich uninteressant. Es geht größtenteils durch nimmer enden wollende Ölpalmplantagen, die in großen Teilen Borneos den Dschungel verdrängt haben.
