And to take are of the Alaskan Military Memorial are Earl and Hazel Kampen who have been volunteering for this duty for the past five years. Thanks Kampen's (originally from Watertown, SD) for your commitment to the beautiful memorial and for answering so many questions from the public. Your heart and passion were very evident. I made them honorary "Soldiers Angels" and gave them a t-shirt compliments of Shelle Michaels of Grand Forks.
Day 11 (July 8, 2008) Fairbanks to Anchorage...It was cold!

July 9th 2008
Hi guys, I'm just starting to thaw out and get warm again. What started out as a relaxing ride from Fairbanks to Anchorage soon turned into one of the coldest days in my ride. I don't mind riding in colder temps but after 4-5 hours of 44 to 48 degrees no matter how well you are dressed, it starts to go through you to the bone.
