This is an example of the 50's era new construction we saw in not only New Zealand, but Australia as well. Not very inspired, to say the least.

Actually built in the 1930's. (was very much Art Deco until remodeled). Queen Elizabeth stayed here during her 1953-54 visit as did the Beatles in 1964. Not too bad for an uninspiring hotel, eh.
