Birkenau

Through this gate was all the barracks that sometimes housed up to 100 000 prisoners. Most the barracks were built from wood. In war time winter temperatures here reached minus 25 degrees celsius. Most of the barracks were destroyed at the end of the war.

Yes, we had that conversation upon boarding the train to Warsaw from Berlin.
