After a beautiful day in the Abel Tasman National Park I headed for Takaka to see the Pupu Springs which are springs that permeate the porous rock then when they get to the granite it flows along almost horizontally until it reaches Takaka where it flows out. Appox forty square meters of water are released which is supposed to be the purist water and sacred to the Maori people. Couldn't remember whether it was forty square meters a minute or second??? Senile dementia setting in. What I hadn't bargained for was driving through the clouds!!! To get there A rather steep and windy road to get to Takaka both up and down, anyway I made it but it was a bit stressy for someone like me who doesn't like driving on roads with a sheer drop at one side and not many barriers. Spent the night in Pohara before driving to Nelson today. Just when I thought the roads couldn't get any worse!!!! A road that went through a hole in the rock!! English roads will be a breeze when I get back.
