Kroombit

Up sooo early! We had to walk up the road with our luggage to be at the bus by 7am! A long days journey ahead, our driver Binks told us that its about 800km, which is the same length at Britain. She was lovely and knew her stuff. We first stopped off at a pretty little village called Serena, to play lawn bowls! sad i know but it was quite fun, especially as i won! (just!) We were not happy at where we stopped for lunch, Rockhampton, as it was a Saturday the only place open was Subway - yuck! Setting off from there it wasn't long til we were no longer in the tropics. Our last stop was a pub just before a 2 hour drive in the outback. Getting into Kroombit we finally saw a Kangeroo (alive ones!) We all were moaning properly when we got to our hostel! converted stables! 3 bunks in a room made for a horse. Every step we made was dodging poisonous frogs, flying and crawling insects. There were so many moths flying around it looked like it was snowing. Trying to ignore black and green creepies we had dinner, a bit of beef a few beans, carrots and a potato, i asked for another tho :o) all was cooked on a proper camp fire. While dinner went down the owner babbled on about the area n stuff...then we were able to try to crack a whip - breaking the sound barrier. All i managed was to strangle myself a couple of times. I didn't fancy the machanical bull. The South bound bus was competing against the North bound bus to stay on the longest. Sophie stayed on the longest from our bus. but as they had more people the North bound bus won. They then gave us games to play but they were a bit boring and we were shattered so we went to bed. I was on the top bunk and had to get rid of a spider before putting on many clothes to keep insects out and going to sleep
