Hi, Sorry for the long break its been hard getting on a computer to update you all.
Were in america now and going home in a few days 😞 so i thought better late than never.
So after a 2:30 hour flight from sydney we landed in Chrischurch on a nice day suprisingly because we thought it was going to be really cold. We went straight to the campervan rentals from the airport and picked up our new home for the month. It was alot bigger then the hippie camper thank god i dont think we could of lasted another month in something that small. This one had its own stove and microwave so we were sorted and we didnt have to pay for campsites everynight ( we done our trick of sneeking on ).
Our first port of call was spend a few days wondering around Christchurch but its only a little place and we managed to get it done in 2 days. The 2nd day we went up the gondola which gives you veiws of Christchurch but after about half an hour up there we decided to move on to the next stop.
The next place
we reached was Kaikoura which is known for its sea life and ia meant to be one of the best places in the world to whale watch. We decided if it was cheap enough we would do it but when we got there the weather was terrible so we couldnt really do much. We werent to botherd because we had seen humpback whales in Oz. We knew there was a seal colonly in Kaikoura so we went off to find taht and came across about 20 elephant seal just lying in and around the car park. We couldnt believe how close you could get to them and they were absolutely huge.
After we seen the seals, there wasnt much else to do there so we carried on heading north and the next place we reached was Able tasmin national park which is suppose to have the best walking trails in the world. It took us quite a long time to get up there as we were stopping every 5 mins to take pictures of the gorgeous veiws. Once we got there we decided on a half day walk as all the others were 5 days long and we wouldnt
have had the time to do that. The walk was lovely and we seen loads of beaches and walked through a lot of forest. We spent the night there and the next morning headed down the south, west of the island which is meant to be the most scenic part of the island.
The next place we got to was franz joseff glazierwhich is a little town situated around the glazier. We had decided we both wanted to climb the glazier before we got there so we went ahead and booked it for the next day. As soon as we arrived the next day to get kitted out with out waterproof clothing it was lashing down. We got kitted out and hopped on the bus which took us to the glazier, when we got there the rain had become torrential and we had a mile walk to do over rough terraine and rivers before we even got to the glazier.
The time we got to the glazier we were soaked to the bone and we hadnt even stepped foot on it yet, you can imagine our pain haha. It took us about an hour an a half to
get to the top of the glazier and by this time we were absolutly freezing but it was worth it as the veiws were stunning. We had to wear ice grips on our boots and sally's came off half way up so the guide had to give her his. When we reached the bottom we had to do the mile walk back which was the most painfull walk weve ever had to do. We were both freezing, soaking wet and our boots had more holes in them than a tramps sock. The rivers that we crossed on the way to the glaziers were now like rapids because of the rain so the guides had to make a human chain to help us get across. It was all worth it but it was a very, very long day.
The next stop was queens town, which has all the bungee jumps we didnt do much here because we didnt have much money left but it was a lovely town. Our last stop on the south island was milford sound which was the most gorgeous drive through moutains but there were avalance warnings everywere as the snow had been so heavy and
they had to put dynamite in the moutains to blow the snow off so it would be safe for people to drive through it. It was a lovely place with a huge lake surrounded by mountains and we took some really nice pics.
We finished the south isalnd off in Christchurch again and then headed up to picton to cathc the ferry to wellington.
