Woo hoo!!! As you may be able to tell from the title of this blog, I'VE GOT A NEW PIERCING!!! I'm so excited I love it! I've had my tragus done, which is the bit of gristle that's on the middle of your ear! It didn't hurt too much, but it sounded disgusting as the needle went through, it kind of crunched!! It hurts a little bit now and I've got a really attractive crust of blood around it, but I love it sooooo much! I've been wanting it done for years, but a piercer told me that my tragus was too small! The woman who did it said that lots of people say that, as some people don't like doing this piercing, so I'm proper chuffed! I can't really afford, but never mind! I'm also really pleased because I've seen a design for a tattoo that I really like. I was tempted to get that done, but I really can't afford to do it, and also I want it on my foot, so I think its best to wait until summer, so that I can wear flipflops and let it heel properly!!!
Anyway, what have I been up to
this week?! Well, we left Mount Cook on the Monday morning, after taking a small walk up to Kea Point, which was really beautiful! We were heading down to Wanaka, or set off anyway, but Tanja left her purse at the petrol station after we'd already gone half way, and so we had to go all the way, and then all the way back again!! Never mind! The drive after that was really boring, and by the time we got into Wanaka, we were both in need of a beer! We had a really nice English guy in our room, Fuzz, and he invited us out that night. Unfortunately, we both fell asleep, and so that was that, game over!
Tuesday, we went to Puzzle World, and I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was! Puzzle World is basically this place where the theme is puzzles and optical illusions. So there's a hologram room, and a room where all the floors are sloped and you can't tell whether your standing upright or not, it really messes with your sense of balance! I fell sick afterwards. There's also a maze that was really frustrating, but we managed
to finish it and only cheated once, hurrah!!! I bought a puzzle and a Rubicks Cube keyring, as I've been wanting one since Melbourne, and also another puzzle to keep me amused!
That night we went out for Fuzz's leaving doo and got really drunk! We had lots of fun though, and met some really nice people. The next day we both felt terrible, and so headed off into town for a burger breakfast, followed by a huge ice-cream, hmmmmm!! (the burger was THE tastiest I've had for a long time byt the way!! Hmm burger.....). We then headed off to Queenstown and had a really nice drive. We arrived at the hostel which was really nice and cosey and got settled in. We didn't go out for any drinks that night as we still felt terrible, but Thursday, we went to Milford SOund, which was really beautiful! Technically, apparently anyway, its acutally a fjord, but it got called a sound by mistake. The guide (we took a bus as we decided it was too far to drive in Tanja's van) did tell us what the difference was, but I was too busy thinking about Puzzle World still and
Outside The Hostel Door
Promise this theme ends! so missed it! Basically though, its a lake that meets the sea, surrounded by really sheer mountains. It was really stunning, and we were really lucky as our bus was really empty and so was the boat, so there was lots of room. We were also lucky as we saw bottle nose dolphins that were huge, and apparently only 1 in 5 trips see them, and we also saw a really rare penguin and some sea lions!
That night me and Tanja went out to some bars, and got harrassed by a collection of old, unappealing men, including one that really wouldn't take the hint, and looked like Noddy Holder! We didn't stay out too long!!
Friday, we went up the local mountain on the Goldala, which is basically a cable car, and then went on the luge at the top. These are like little cars that build up speed by momemtum, that you steer around a track. It was sooo much fun, we really enjoyed it. Although you had to reach the top by going on a chair lift, and also had to wear spakky safety helmets. Predictably, I had to wear the biggest size, its all
me brains!!! That afternoon we went for a cheap Thai meal $10, and then last night me and Tanja went out again. We started off in this bar called Minus 5, which is completely made of ice! It's really tiny, and expensive to get in, but well worth it for a touristy thing. It was acutally -7 when we were there, and they give you a big coat and gloved. It was neally empty which was crap, and you can only stay for half an hour becuase it so cold, but it was still worth doing, if just to look at the ice sculptures! It was really weird when we came out though, as one of the girls (English, typical) was going off at this guy, because he's cut a piece out of her hair, which she had apparently told him he could doo! She had a really straight, blond bob, and you could really tell where he'd cut it, oops!
We went to Whinnies after, where Fuzz met us, who Tanja had bumped into before! Also, randomly, this girl who had come and spoken to us, met up with us and joined us for the night. She was
Mount Cook
And again! a really sweet little Manc, but Jesus she could talk, and that's coming from me!!! We met some really nice people in there, and went to find another bar, which I loved but no-one else liked! We then went to World Bar, which is really cheesy and Tanja decided she was going to go home! I wanted to stay but was far too drunk and so went home too! And that's it!
Then I got my new piercing today, and we've just been mooching around! I also bought a new hat, as I finally found one where you can adjust the size, to fit my large bonce!!
Tomorrow we're off the Fox Glacier, which should be cool, and then Tuesday, we're heading up to Abel Tasman, to do our two day walk. I'm really excited! I'm leaving the organising up to Tanja, as she has something really specific that she wants to do, but apparently you get water taxis to pick you up and stuff, and for $1, people carry your things, bargain!!! Then after that its back to Blenhaim for two more weeks working on the vineyards, and then I go to America. on the 12th October.
Mount Cook
And again, in the middle I think!! I've changed my ticket so I miss out Fiji and the Cook Islands, as I wasn't that bothered about going, and I can't really afford it, then I fly home on the 19th October! I've booked a really cheap internal flight between LA and Vegas, and also Gatwick and Manchester, so its all sorted! Its going to be really hard to come home I think, to be stationary all the time, in a static environment! But hopefully I'll be on the dole for a few weeks, and I'll have a car (hopefully) so I can come and visit you all! Anyway, take care, let me know how you all are, I've got a new piercing, yey!!
Love
