oh hey abby
get me off this thing Day 4: 10-2-10
Continuing south on our journey, we headed along 6 hugging the coast. Our first stop of the day was in Punakaiki to see the Pancake Rocks and Blowhole. The weather was overcast and drizzly which made for a erie backdrop as we watched the ocean waves crash against the limestone. Our next task for the day was to find gas and quick...after doing some simple math we figured we would have about half a liter of gas max by the time we got to a station in Greymouth. Luckily we made it without having to push the camper-van.
Around lunch time we stopped in Hokitika for some grub but quickly got back on the road heading toward Franz Josef Glacier. On the way there we stopped at/snuck onto a random suspension bridge. The boys though it would be fun to oscillate the structure to see how high/low it would flex...I was unfortunately caught in the middle of the action. Upon reaching Franz Josef, Eric was mildly disappointed because the world's largest indoor climbing glacier park thing was closed. The town had a small grocery store where we picked up some chilly and avacado for dinner and then
boys will be boys
yes, it is what it looks like once again got back on the road in search for the long awaited destination point of Fox Glacier and to see what would later be known as the sunset of a life time (and I have about 500 photos to prove it).
Camper-van lesson #4: 125 kilometers is a long time of worrying...in hindsight, just fill up on gas initially.

Cloud formations
The cloud formations appear to reflect the landscape below both in design and color. Grandma says the sunset reminded her of times they sat and watched sunsets in Michigan and Northern Illinois. Especially when sitting outside having wine and cheese in Travers City Michigan.
