We can see snow on the mountains and the nights are getting colder. Have resorted to sleeping in the car on a few occassions and have found it to be kinder to our joints as well as being warmer.... "SPENDING THE KIDS INHERITANCE" Well thats what the kids accuse us of - so, (Skid & Skim) ski/daddy and ski/mummy are doing just that..... 2 Brits off around the world on August 19th 2007 and don't they just hate us for it!!!! No! - They think it's great that a couple of oldies have got the guts to go backpacking for 12 months. We are no strangers to travelling and have already experienced white water rafting in Colorado, "Skim" has also been brave enough to do a bungee jump. Homer tunnel..

Milford sound was inaccessible by road until 1953 when the tunnel was completed. The tunnel is 945 metres above sea level an 1.2km long..

The first train to pass through this area was on 10th July 1878. We however, stayed the night like several others - Doing a spot of freedom camping.

The famous vintage steam train, based in Kingston on the southern shores of Lake Wakatipu.

Kia Ora Ron & Avril, we have settled back home now, Back to work arghhh!!! saving for another trip back to Raro.
