Andrew at Te Papa
in the rock garden Up early for the long drive down to Capital City, Wellington is about 400 KM's away and should be a about a 5 hour drive with a luch stop half way.
We arrive in Wellington about 3pm and it looks a very trendy place, the drive in along the docks is nice and the city looks very European, houses on hills and cliffs in loads of different styles and colours, it has a good feel about it.
We find our zebra print hostel without much trouble, slight problem though, there is no hostel parking, there is on street parking outside the front door but it's $4 an hour, it's 60 cents here in Nelson, Capital City strikes again, it's George Street in Edinburgh all over again so I abandon the car with the usual "Meter Reader" sign in the window and the hazards on and head up to reception.
The hostel is quite big but looks really nice, they've upgraded us to an en-suite as they double booked us even though I booked 2 weeks ago!! The room is amazing, sofa, TV, kitchen and bathroom, defo think it's the best we've had, it all looks, and smells, so
Ducks?
I've no idea, ask Fiona. new.
The girl at reception directs me to a car park where it's $10 for 24 hours so I move the car there and wander back. We're in the Courtenay Quarter of the city and it's all very nice, loads of pubs and restaurants about and we go for a wander to get our bearings, we've got a good feeling about this place and I'm sure we'll have a great time here.
