Tongariro Crossing
Stayed in Palmerston North, a twilight zone where there were more grey old women than backpackers - felt more like a nursing home! Apparently due to a Quilt Symposium being held in the city! Got out of there quick sharp and took a look around Hastings and Napier including its aquarium.

Did the Tongariro Crossing after missing the bus about 3 weeks ago. Well worth the detour back to do it - went across mountains, craters, forest etc. Just a (brisk) walk in the Park. Got an idea of what it'll be like being old - for the next 24 hours, I was aching all over, my knees were shot and I was walking like an old man!
